Inspired by real events, this 2019 Polish film follows 20-year-old Daniel and his spiritual change during his stay at a youth detention center.
Daniel secretly dreams of becoming a priest; an impossible dream because of his criminal record. Once paroled and sent to work in a small community, he befriends a parish priest. In the absence of the clergyman, Daniel makes use of the situation, pretending to be a priest. The arrival of the young, charismatic preacher is an opportunity for the local community to begin the healing process after a tragedy that happened there.
The film’s title is Latin for the phrase “body of Christ.” Presented as part of three Rivers Film Festival, the largest and longest running annual film festival in Southwestern Pennsylvania. For more information, call (412) 361-0873.
