The dachshund is a short-legged, long-bodied, hound-type dog originally bred to flush-out small animals such as badgers. The word “dachshund” translates from German into English as “badger hound.”

Presented as part of Oktoberfest Pittsburgh, a multi-day community event inspired by the annual beer festival held in Germany since 1810. The goal is to honor the rich cultural traditions of the original Oktoberfest while showcasing the best of Pittsburgh’s local talent and businesses.
