In this introductory series, students will explore wood from a material perspective, learning the anatomy of wood, its behaviors, and how to harness it to create beautiful objects that last.

Wood is an organic material made from trees or other plants that can be used to create a wide variety of products, especially furniture. Along with stone, clay and animal parts, wood was one of the first materials worked by early humans.

Each session will begin with a lecture-style discussion by professional woodworker John Henley followed by practical exercises that introduce students to the entire woodshop.
