El Capitan is a 3,000-foot-tall rock formation in Yosemite National Park and considered an exciting challenge by climbers. One of those climbers was 32-year-old Alex Honnold, who set out to ascend to formation in the most dangerous method possible — without any protective equipment such as rope.
