This play recounts an important moment in local and national history.

That moment is the 1967 formation of America’s first professionally staffed mobile paramedics: the Freedom House Ambulance Service in the city’s predominately African American Hill District neighborhood.

The paramedic training and ambulance design standards pioneered in the Freedom House Ambulance Service would set the standard for emergency care both nationally and internationally.
