Attend City of Asylum’s annual fundraising gala to honor an international writer or artist who has overcome efforts to limit heir creative freedom.
This year’s event honors Iranian singer and songwriter Mahsah Vahdat, a renowned world music performer and vocal advocate for freedom of expression for musicans and composers. Mahsa left her native Iran because of the restrictions placed on female performers by the Iranian government.
Following a cocktail reception and dinner, Mahsa will be joined on stage by author and poet Sholeh Wolpé for a short reading and conversation; then and harpist Bridget Kibbey for a musical performance.
