This inspiring 2019 documentary film follows the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus as they embark on a tour of the American Deep South in response to the divisive 2016 elections.

Formed in 1978 by conductor John Reed Sims ( 1947-1984),  the San Francisco Gay Men’s Chorus is the world’s first openly gay chorus and one of the world’s largest male choruses. Tim Seelig, a former Baptist pastor, is the current artistic director.

The film showcases the inspiring music, of course, but it is how the Chorus changes the minds of the people they meet — and how the people change the minds of members of the Chorus — that reverberates.

Presented as part of Reel Q, an annual festival of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) cinema that began in 1985.
