A gingerbread house is a novelty confectionery shaped like a building that is made of baked cookie dough. The tradition of making decorated gingerbread houses started in Germany in the early 1800s. As they became more elaborate, they became associated with Christmas.
There is no charge for admission. Donations are collected for the Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh’s Free Care Fund. Presented as part of Light-Up Night, the city’s annual launch of the holiday season.
