Bill Murray is at his comedic best in this 1993 film as cynical Pittsburgh television weatherman Phil Connors faces an unhappy assignment.
That assignment is attending the ridiculous ceremony in nearby Punxsutawney for the annual event when a legendary groundhog supposedly predicts the arrival of spring. But things become weirder and weirder as Phil realizes that he’s stuck in a time loop, experiencing the same day over and over — which he finds to be surprisingly liberating.
Although set in small town Pennsylvania, “Groundhog Day” was actually filmed in Illinois.
