This 2025 film documentary is a deeply personal and profoundly universal story.

Grammy-nominated concert pianist Mona Golabek shares the extraordinary story of her mother, acclaimed pianist Lisa Jura (1924-2024, pictured). As World War II (1939-1945) approached, Lisa’s impoverished father miraculously won a ticket for the Kindertransport — a special program to rescue Jewish children from Nazi-occupied Europe. He and his wife then had to choose which of their three daughters would be saved.

Featuring interviews of towering Jewish scholars and spanning three generations, this life-affirming film stands as a luminous testament to survival, artistry, and the enduring strength of a mother’s love.

Mona Golabek will be opening the screening with a brief piano performance and answer audience questions after. Presented as part of the JFilm Festival, an annual showcase of Jewish-themed independent films from around the world.
