This 2018 documentary film relates the inspiring true story of transgender entertainer Moses Tau (1969-2018) — better known as Moshanty.

Papua New Guinea is one of the world’s most dangerous place to be a woman, with 70% reporting that they experienced family and sexual violence before the age of 15. For this reason, transgender persons are often homeless, unemployed, denied education and medical care and living under the greatest possible threat of robbery, rape and murder.

Yet there is one transgender woman who is loved by nearly every person in Papua New Guinea: the iconic recording artist and legendary entertainer Moshanty. Filmed over a weekend in October of 2017 and including her last live performances, “I’m Moshanty, Do You Love Me?” is an introduction and a musical tribute to the career of the transgender activist with a mother’s heart, teeth of gold and a voice like a coronet.
