Dinosaurs make good movie characters (and so do paleontologists). Find out what’s fake in some prehistoric film scenes and see where the real science shines through.

What is commonly called the Jurassic is the period in Earth’s development that scientists consider having happened around 200 million years ago. Most of the planet’s land was part of a single, large continent. Cone-bearing plants and reptiles (including large ones known as dinosaurs). Recreating some of these creatures was the subject of the 1993 movie “Jurassic Park” and its sequels.

Hear about the most recent discoveries in this fascinating field and ask museum staff your most pressing questions about the flora and fauna that inhabited one of the most influential—and popular—geological periods in our Earth’s history.

This family-friendly program is ideal for children ages 7 to 12.
