Singer, guitarist and percussionist Leon Ligan-Majek (a.k.a. “Kaleta”) and his band seamlessly blends the classic styles of Afro-Funk and Afro-Rock found in Benin and Nigeria to create a distinctive, nuanced sound.
Afrobeat is a music genre which involves the combination of elements of West African styles with that of American funk and jazz. The term was coined in 1968 by Nigerian bandleader Fela Kuti (1938-1997).
