This engrossing stage adaptation of author Kathryn Erskine’ award winning 2010 novel Mockingbird centers on a young girl with autism.

Autism is a disorder of neural development that is characterized by impaired social interaction and communication and by restricted and repetitive behavior. Every 15 minutes, another family receives the devastating news that their child has an autism spectrum disorder.

That girl is 11-year-old Caitlin, who once relied on her older brother to help make sense of things beyond dictionaries, computers and the facial expressions chart at school. But now that he’s gone, she’s all on her own. With the help of those around her, Caitlin begins to understand how to get close to people, embrace the “messiness” of emotions and use her burgeoning artist talents to move on.
