Kids can create a one-of-a-kind gift for mom, grandma, aunt or any special woman in their lives with the help of the Saturday Light Brigade.

The Saturday Light Brigade (SLB) began in 1978 as a weekly public radio program that featured music, interviews and interactive elements. It has since evolved into a nonprofit organization that seeks to use radio and audio to encourage, amplify, share and archive the ideas, stories and feelings of children, youth and families. The radio program continues on various local stations and streams online from a studio at the Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh.

SLB Radio staff will conduct an interview about that person and record it on a compact disc (CD) that can be decorated, affixed to a special card and brought home that day. Kids and adults can record alone or together and can also record a special song or poem that will be cherished for a lifetime.
