This is an exhibition of American artists who are working within the DIY aesthetic.
“DIY” is an abbreviation dating to 1912 for “do-it-yourself” and refers to building or modifying an item things without the direct aid of experts or professionals. As an artistic aesthetic, it is applied to a variety of creative endeavors from painting and sculpture to the digital.
Featured artists often work in the form of zines, t-shirts, posters, box-art, trading cards and more. The exhibition explores these bodies of work which mutate media, iconography, and advertising.
Admission is free. For more information, call (412) 325-7723.
