This stunning 1922 silent film is an unauthorized adaptation of the 1897 novel Dracula written by Bram Stoker (1847-1912).
German actor Max Schreck (pictured) portrays the predatory vampire Count Orlock. The count purchases a home in a small town where mysterious deaths mount. The film is noted for its controversial legal status (the Stoker family sued over copyright infringement) and its Expressionist style — a distortion of perspective to evoke moods or ideas.
World-renowned pianist Tom Roberts will perform an original score accompanying the screening.
