Eligible candidates will take the state bar exam in a designated room.

A bar examination is a test intended to determine whether a candidate is qualified to practice law. The term “bar” refers to the legal profession as a whole. The term originated in the physical divider (usually a bar) that traditionally separates the parts of a courtroom reserved for spectators and those reserved for trial participants. The first bar exam in the United States was administered in Delaware in 1738.

Presented by the Pennsylvania Board of Examiners, which is empowered by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania to recommend for admission only those individuals who have demonstrated at least minimum competency and the requisite character necessary to become an attorney.
