A robot is a machine capable of carrying out a complex series of actions, either automatically through pre-programming or remotely by human direction. The term “robot” was invented by Czech painter and poet Josef Capek (1887-1945) whose brother, writer Karel Capek (1890-1938), introduced it in his 1920 play “R.U.R.”
Presented in part by the Pittsburgh Robotics Network, which represents the companies and leaders who make up the region’s robotics, autonomy and artificial intelligence ecosystem.
