The house band of the legendary Preservation Hall enthusiastically keeps alive jazz through by respecting the artform’s rich legacy while embracing the innovative.
Preservation Hall has been a critical part of the vibrant New Orleans jazz scene since 1961, when tuba player Allan Jaffe (1935-1987) and his wife assumed management of the club.
Although the band’s membership has changed over the years, Allan’s spirit remains alive through his son, Ben, its current tuba player.
Admission is free. Presented as part of the Three Rivers Arts Festival, a multiday celebration of visual and performing arts produced by the nonprofit Pittsburgh Cultural Trust and primarily sponsored by local financial firm Dollar Bank.
