In this talk Dr. Sergei Bykov from the University of Pittsburgh will share his research on recent data returned from NASA’s Perseverance rover mission.
The rover has been exploring the planet Mars since February 18, 2021.
His work includes detailed analysis of the structure and hydration of opals in Carnegie Museum of Natural History’s collection.
The series is named in honor of Pittsburgh pediatrician Richard Moriarty (pictured), who conceived the famous “Mr. Yuk” sticker to warn young children to avoid poisonous substances.
