Farley Granger and John Dall give compelling performances in this classic 1948 film helmed by the legendary Alfred Hitchcock (pictured).
They portray two young men who attempt the “perfect crime” by murdering a friend — and then hold a party for their mentor (James Stewart) with the body hidden in the room.
“Rope” was adapted from a 1929 play which itself was inspired by a real-life murder committed by male lovers Nathan Leopold (1904-1971) and Richard Loeb (1905-1936).
