The Chiefs are the beloved minor league hockey team for the fictional Pennsylvania community of Charlestown. The town’s future is in serious doubt with the impending closure of the local steel mill. So, the team stumbles onto a way to generate interest in Charlestown — by playing as violent a game as possible.
Writer Nancy Dowd based her screenplay on her brother’s career as a minor league hockey player. Also in the cast in Michael Ontkean and Strother Martin.
