Join the History Center and Draw the Lines PA for bar games, food, drinks and a conversation about the serious issue known as gerrymandering.

Gerrymandering is the process by which a representative or voting district is created to specifically benefit a political party. The term originated in 1812 when Massachusetts Governor Elbridge Gerry (1744-1814) caused a public outcry when he signed a law creating biased state senate districts. Today, computers are used to create distinct and often bizarrely shaped districts. Draw the Lines PA is a nonpartisan, statewide mapping project to put the same digital tools used by the political pros into the hands of Pennsylvania’s voters and students.

Draw your voting map and share it with your legislator, attempt to put together the infamous gerrymandered Pennsylvania puzzle, test drive Draw the Lines’ new “District Builder” software, and have timely conversations with civically-engaged pals.
