A fine cast of up-and-coming young actors bring some grit to this adventurous 1985 film.
Facing the loss of their homes to a development project, a group of boys dubbed “The Goonies” gather for a final weekend before they and their families scatter to new lives. The Goonies use these last days to search for a fabled pirate treasure hidden nearby. But it’s not just the pirate’s booby traps the boys — a crime family is also after the fortune.
Singer/songwriter Cyndi Lauper’s bouncy title song became a hit. The cast includes Sean Astin, Josh Brolin, Anne Ramsey, Corey Feldman, Jonathan Ke Hu Quan and Martha Plimpton.
