As the duo Transient Canvas, inventive musicians Amy Advocat and Matt Sharrock perform works by emerging composers using the bass clarinet and a little-known instrument called the marimba.
Similar to the xylophone, the marimba is comprised of wooden bars struck by mallets to produce musical notes. It first appeared in the 1680’s. With Matt playing the marimba and Amy playing the clarinet, the duo specializes in original compositions (usually commissioned by Transient Canvas) that echo the classical repertoire but are delivered with a contemporary attitude.
This is an “all-ages” concert.
