Local artist and weaving teacher Jamie Boyle will teach students how to weave using a device called a 4-harness loom.
Weaving is a method of textile production in which two distinct sets of yarns or threads are interlaced at right angles to form a fabric or cloth. Historians believe that woven fabric was first made in Africa about 27,000 years ago.
Students will create a woven sampler that incorporates various structures and materials and will leave the class with a base from which to plan and design future projects of their own.
No weaving experience expected or necessary. All materials will be provided.
