Whiskey is an alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain (such as barley or wheat) that is distilled with other ingredients and aged in wooden casks. The origin of whiskey is a matter of dispute, but its history is strongly aligned with that of Scotland.
This month’s session introduces methods for assessing whiskies including appearance, aroma, and flavor. The characteristics of various Wigle Whiskies of different mash bills and maturation profiles will be sampled, and chemical compounds which are indicators of these characteristics will be discussed.
