Discover how whiskey is made and of the region’s unique role in its history.
Whiskey is an alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain (such as barley or wheat) that is distilled with other ingredients and aged in wooden casks. The origin of whiskey is a matter of dispute, but its history is strongly aligned with that of Scotland.
Wigle Whiskey is the only whiskey distillery in the region and was the first distillery in the City of Pittsburgh since Prohibition. The company is named after a man who took part in the 1791 Whiskey Rebellion, a protest held in the Pittsburgh area in response to a tax on distilled spirits.
Multiple tours will be conducted, each at a specific time.
