Jazz up your evening as alto saxophonist and ethnomusicologist Yoko Suzuki performs songs from John Coltrane’s 1965 album “A Love Supreme” for Valentine’s Day.

African-American saxophonist and composer John Coltrane (1926-1967) helped pioneer the use of modes and was at the forefront of free jazz. Some critics consider “A Love Supreme” to be Coltrane’s masterpiece, as well as one of the greatest albums ever recorded.

Ethnomusicology is the study of music from the cultural and social aspects of the people who make it. This is an “all-ages” concert.
