An impressive array of stars shine in this brilliant 1938 film adaptation of the Pulitzer Prize winning play.
The hilarious story centers on the efforts of financier Anthony P. Kirby, who is buying up residential properties in the same neighborhood to build a munitions plant. Unfortunately for him, there is one hold-out is the eccentric Martin Vanderhof (Lionel Barrymore) who has welcomed a colorful array of characters to take up residence. So Kirby sends his son Tony (James Stewart) to make a bold offer — if he can.
