The Original Oyster House, which has been Pittsburgh’s go-to place for the ancient seafood delicacy oyster since opening 1870, is home to the spookiest pop-up bar ever created.

The bar’s decor has been inspired by the 1968 horror film “Night of the Living Dead,” which was filmed in and around Pittsburgh. The film told the story of a group of people taking refuge in a farm house as revived corpses (also called zombies) roam the countryside looking for victims. (Some scenes were shot in the Oyster House’s basement).

Entering the Zombie Den, living (and undead) guests encounter a bunker-like environment designed to be a “safe house” during a vicious zombie outbreak. Guests will encounter a band of survivors who staff the bar while serving up potent cocktails — and pitch-dark humor to match — to ease the pain of the city’s impending doom as hordes of the undead engage in a relentless attack. The Zombie Den is also filled with emergency protocols, including safety signs, beacon lights and tools that might prove useful to those trying to survive the night.

The Zombie Den is staged by the owners of the popular haunted attraction ScareHouse in conjunction with the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership. For more information, call (412) 781-5885.
