Begun in 1999, the Ace Hotel chain is a Portland, Oregon-based firm that specializes in converting historic but underused structures into stylish and unique hotels. The first such hotel was a former half-way house in Seattle

The Pittsburgh hotel opened in 2015 in what was once a Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) fitness center constructed in the early 1900s but had since closed.

In addition to the comfortable guest rooms, the Ace Hotel Pittsburgh offers a restaurant, bar and social gathering space.
