The 32-story EQT Tower is one of Pittsburgh’s most distinctive skyscrapers.
What is now EQT Tower was originally the corporate headquarters for energy firm Consolidated Natural Gas (CNG) and called CNG Tower until the company was purchased and moved out. EQT took up residence on the top two floors in 2009.
EQT Corporation (formerly Equitable Gas) is one of the nation’s largest producers of natural gas with a rich history dating back to 1884.
The building is a handsome, modern interpretation of classic art deco design. It was completed in 1987 at the impressive cost of $100 million. Adjacent to the building is a contemporary urban plaza complete with seating and detailed statues of people going about their daily lives.
Highwoods Properties currently owns the building.
