One of the state’s largest suburban public library, Northland serves the communities in and near McCandless.
McCandless is located about eight miles north of Pittsburgh with a population of 30,000 people. The town features an attractive hilly terrain and is home to many interesting Native American artifacts. Incorporated in 1851, it is named in honor of United States federal judge Wilson McCandless (1810-1882), who was born in Pittsburgh.
The striking modernist glass building houses an extensive collection of print material, a impressive computer center and various meeting rooms.
