The Simple Greek is a chain of franchise fast-casual restaurants each featuring an open kitchen giving patrons a clear view of the fresh ingredients and masterful cooking. This outlet is located in a simple, one-story structure in historic Market Square.

The square was created in 1764 as Diamond Square as the focal point to the Downtown city block plan. Many regional firsts happened in the square, from the first newspaper to the first county courthouse. From 1914 to 1961 an urban mall called the Diamond Market sat at the site. Market Square became an open public space again after the market was demolished.

Market Square has been renovated many times over the past 50 years. A key addition came in 1984 with the adjacent PPG Place, a magnificent complex of glass cathedral-like office buildings. The most recent iteration, begun in 2009, Market Square has been rejuvenated into a European-style plaza for dining, shopping, business meetings and leisure.
