Commonly known locally as Pitt, the University Of Pittsburgh is a state-related research university that began in 1787. The university is comprised of 17 undergraduate and graduate schools located in various buildings in the city’s Oakland neighborhood — effectively making it Pitt’s campus.
The handsome, eight-story building was built in 1923 for a private social club and designed by noted American architect Henry Hornbostel (1867-1961). Visitors arrive to a stunning grand lobby with a magnificent curved staircase leading to a beautiful ballroom topped off with a 600-pound crystal chandelier.
More than three dozen works of art are on display throughout University Club providing an added touch of elegance to its various meeting rooms and fitness facilities.
