Encompassing 810 acres in White Oak, this public county park features a multi-purpose athletic field, shelters, a wedding garden, playgrounds, off-leash area, bocce courts, volleyball courts, horseshoe pits and trails for walking and hiking.

White Oak is a cozy suburb of 8,000 people southeast of Pittsburgh. Its name comes from the many oak trees (a subcategory known as “white oak”) in the area.

The park features plants that exist nowhere else in the state. Trillium, wildflowers and particular types of groundcover have attracted the attention of botanists, and the western border of the park is rugged steep hillside that only the most adventurous hikers spend time on. Some of the stands of trees are primeval. The picnic groves have tree names such as Mountain Ash, Juniper, Beech and Sumac.
