Launch in 1974, WYEP-FM is a non-commercial radio station with an adult album alternative programming format. Since 2011, its sister station is the all-news WESA-FM (formerly WDUQ-FM). Both are owned by the non-profit Pittsburgh Community Broadcasting Corporation and affiliated with the non-profit National Public Radio (NPR) network.

The stations operate out of the Community Broadcast Center, a high-tech and eco-friendly production and broadcast facility. It is located in Bedford Square, a historic neighborhood on the city’s South Side.

Outdoor concerts are often held at the site during warm weather months.
