Pennsylvania’s largest history museum, the Senator John Heinz History Center presents the most compelling stories from American history with a Western Pennsylvania connection, all in an interactive environment perfect for visitors of every age

The museum is named in honor of United States Senator Henry John Heinz III (1938-1991), an heir to the Heinz ketchup fortune.

Heinz’s 275,000-square-foot facility features six floors of long-term and changing exhibition space, including the Western Pennsylvania Sports Museum, a dynamic museum-within-a-museum, and an extensive scholarly resource documenting 250 years of life in Western Pennsylvania.

The museum is housed in a century-old building that was once the warehouse to an ice company before the advent of home refrigeration.
