The virtuoso Czech violinist Josef Špaček (pictured) joins the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in a program that features a concerto written by Czech composer Antonín Dvořák (1841-1904).
Founded in 1895 by British composer, conductor and organist Frederic Archer (1838-1901), the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is one of America’s oldest and most prestigious orchestras having performed around the world including a 2004 concert for Pope John Paul II (1920-2005).
Antonín Dvořák frequently employed rhythms and other aspects of Eastern European folk music in his compositions. This includes his 1879 concerto which Špaček and the orchestra will perform.
