A beloved Pittsburgh TV institution, “Chiller Theater” (1961-1982), hits the stage with this hilarious musical comedy adaption.
“Chiller Theater” aired horror and science fiction movies presented comically first by host John “The Cool Ghoul” Zacherie (1918-2016) and later by Bill “Chilly Billy” Cardille (1928-2016). It was telecast on Saturday nights on WPXI-TV. Cardille portrayed a variety of characters such as “Captain Bad” and “Maurice the Matchmaker”. At the end of the show “Chilly Billy” would be back with his signature signoff, “good night and sleep warm”.
This adaptation re-imagines the series as a talk show hosted by an infamous and unhappy vampire welcoming an oddball collection of guests — all classic movie monsters.
