Russel portrays Herb Brooks (1937-2003), who was head coach of the U.S. Hockey Team at the 1980 Winter Olympics. Conventional wisdom held that the Soviet team would be the big winners. But in what became known as the “Miracle on the Ice” saw that Americans receiving the gold medal.
