Award winning Singaporean conductor Kahchun Wong (pictured) leads the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in performing Russian composer Modest Mussorgsky’s (1839-1881) internationally beloved “Pictures at an Exhibition.”

Founded in 1895 by British composer, conductor and organist Frederic Archer (1838-1901), the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is one of America’s oldest and most prestigious orchestras having performed around the world including a 2004 concert for Pope John Paul II (1920-2005).

“Pictures at an Exhibition” is a piano suite written by Mussorgsky in 1874. It is a musical depiction of a tour of an exhibition of works by architect and painter Viktor Hartmann (1834-1873) that was staged following his sudden death in the previous year.
