Award winning Italian German pianist Augustin Hadelich (pictured) joins the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra in a program that features the most famous work of German composer Ludwig van Beethoven (1770-1827).

Founded in 1895 by British composer, conductor and organist Frederic Archer (1838-1901), the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is one of America’s oldest and most prestigious orchestras having performed around the world including a 2004 concert for Pope John Paul II (1920-2005).

From the very first “da-da-da-DAH,” Beethoven’s Fifth Symphony has permeated popular culture, appearing in films such as “Fantasia” and “The Breakfast Club”, as well as television, commercials, and even inspiring disco and rock adaptations. Its powerful emotional arc, moving from tension and struggle toward triumphant resolution, has made the symphony an enduring symbol of resilience and dramatic storytelling.
