One of today’s most respected pianists, Yefim Bronfman (pictured), joins the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra for a powerhouse program that brings together some of the most dramatic and iconic works in the orchestral repertoire.

Founded in 1895 by British composer, conductor and organist Frederic Archer (1838-1901), the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra is one of America’s oldest and most prestigious orchestras having performed around the world including a 2004 concert for Pope John Paul II (1920-2005).

That iconic work is “The Firebird,” a 1910 orchestral work written by Russian composer Igor Stravinsky (1882-1971). It was inspired by a creature in Slavic folklore which is both a blessing and a curse for whomever captures it.
