John Cameron Mitchell stars and directs this 2001 film adaptation of his daring stage musical.
The story centers on East German rock singer Hedwig Robinson (Mitchell) who survived a botched gender transition procedure. After immigrating to America and living as a woman, Hedwig mentors her young lover Tommy Speck (Michael Pitt) who eventually abandons her upon achieving fame.
John will appear at this special screening to celebrate the film’s 25th anniversary.
