The Roxian Theatre is a renovated historic performance venue located in McKees Rocks.

McKees Rocks is a former manufacturing center just outside Pittsburgh’s northwestern city limits. The town is named after trader Alexander McKee (1735-1799), who owned an estate there in the 18th century called Fairview.

The building is a special part of McKees Port history. It opened in 1929 as a 1500-seat vaudeville playhouse called simply The Roxian. Films started being screened in 1931 and remained primarily a movie palace until 1979. The building reopened the following year as a ballroom called The Emerald Room. The ballroom closed in 2003 and the building’s situation remained fluid until 2017. At that time, a group of local investors led by John and Ami Pergal (the owners of the Thunderbird Cafe) took over the property. The restored playhouse formally re-opened in 2019 as the Roxian Theatre.
