The Thunderbird is a popular 380-capacity concert venue in Lawrenceville featuring multiple bars, lounge areas, food service, elevator and expanded green room.

Lawrenceville is a city neighborhood northeast of downtown. The area is named after Captain James Lawrence (1781-1813) who is famous for saying “don’t give up the ship!” This formerly industrial section has since evolved in a trendy neighborhood.

The very building tells the history of Lawrenceville: built in 1890 as a bakery, it became a tavern in 1933. As Michalski’s Cafe, it was the second bar in Pittsburgh to receive a liquor license after Prohibition (1920-1933). The building remained in the Michalski family until 2000 when husband-and-wife team John and Ami Pergal bought it. They reopened it soon after as the Thunderbird Cafe and renovated it again in 2019.

It is owned by Roxian Live LLC, which was founded by a group of local investors led by the Pergals.
