This modern play is a heightened and hilarious retelling of the theater world’s most magical romantic comedy.
Written in 1595 by pioneering Englishman William Shakespeare (1564-1616), the original “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” is set in an Ancient Greek forest inhabited by fairies who gleefully manipulate the humans gathering for a wedding. This version finds new life and humor by combining ancient rituals with contemporary fashions and that golden era of African-American culture known as the Harlem Renaissance.
